TeacherTraining

An experiential course over two weekends two months apart that introduces the basic elements of what to offer and how to lead movement sessions within a mindfulness context
"Motivational, challenging & aspirational in equal measure" Kevin, Jan 2012
Next course: Friday evening 20 April - Sunday afternoon 22 April and Friday evening 15 June - Sunday afternoon 17 June

‘The body never lies. Its tone, color, posture, proportions, movements, tensions, and vitality express the person within. These signs are a clear language to those who have learned to read them. The body says things about one’s emotional history and deepest feelings, one’s character and personality.’ (Kurtz)

The Mindfulness Movement Training for Facilitators is an experiential course over two weekends two months apart. This course introduces mindfulness teachers and other facilitators to basic movement and its psychological implications. The course is experiential: guided practice, discussion and information on how to work clearly, openly and kindly with our own and other's unreliable bodies.

"
The course was great and I left feeling relaxed, enriched and inspired.  I enjoyed the interesting mix of people and I appreciated the subtle way you identified our specific requirements and encouraged us gently and with great skill towards our goals.  The studio is great and the lunches were delicious too!  Just fab.  Thanks so much again." Shona January 2012

At the end of the first weekend, Mapping the Movement and Rooting the Practice, it is hoped that each participant will have embodied a set of safe, simple, healing and gentle - yet powerful - movements for them to explore in their own practice and to offer to their groups. The second weekend, Reading The (unreliable) Body, will take
a close look at the balance of the skeleton: how to identify imbalance and work safely with breath, feet, knees, back and neck (for starters) in our own and other's bodies, the use of (with permission) touch to enable subtle adjustments in the posture to bring the body back in balance - and how this connects to mindfulness practice as well as exploring the experience gained by course participants between the sessions.

It may be that you already have a movement practice but have yet to discover a seamless link between this and the other aspects of Mindfulness practice - if so, this course will be helpful and illuminating.

The small group of participants will be offered insight into working safely with differing ages and conditions, facing their own and other's projections and setting up support systems between the two weekends.

It is advised that if you are interested in this training to register soon with Sue as places are limited.

First weekend: Friday evening 7.30pm 20 April - Sunday afternoon 22 April, finishing at 3pm. Second weekend: 15 - 17 June. Light lunch is offered as part of the course on Saturday and Sunday.

The Wild Goose System - Forms

The Wild Goose System is a complete system for training the awareness and manipulation of energy. Beginners start with movements from the first 7 forms, which are predominantly yin. Forms 8-11 are more yang in nature and consist of martial elements that train emission and recovery of qi.

Wild Goose 1 has all the movements that are developed in 2-7 and is good basic training for these forms.

Wild Goose 2 uses the more advanced movements found in 8-11 and can be seen as good basic training for the more advanced forms.

WG1 (1st 64 movements)

This form opens the 12 meridians, rotates and moves all the joints in the body, bringing increased flexibility and co-ordination. It introduces the micro-cosmic orbit to circulate within our conception and governing vessels.

Practising Wild Goose 1 can

  • Improve blood circulation
  • Develope breathing and movement coordination.
  • Increase body and mind flexibility.
  • Cultivate sensitivity for feeling the qi inside and around our bodies.
