Treat yourself to an invigorating, relaxing, inspiring and restoring three-day break at Rostherne Country House practising Mindfulness & Qigong with Sue Weston. The course is open to both residential and non-residential participants and no experience is required - beginners as well as experienced practitioners are welcome. The programme offers time and space to de-stress and revive whilst learning healing techniques to take back into every day living.

Arrive on Sunday afternoon in time to settle in and, weather permitting, explore the countryside before dinner and friendly introductions. Each morning post-breakfast Sue will introduce simple, relaxing yet profound mindfulness techniques and the powerful healing skills of Chinese Medical Qigong, outside if the weather permits. Katie Riley, our hostess at Rostherne, who is not only a great cook but also a nutritionist, has promised a delicious and relaxing long lunch. The afternoons will be spent investigating both techniques so that each participant can return home with their own personal practice. There will be time to talk, to be silent, to walk in the surrounding countryside – or simply sit beside an open fire enjoying the peace of Rostherne. In the evenings after dinner Katie will tell us about how certain foods affect and support our well-being.

We depart after lunch on Wednesday, refreshed and with the beginnings of a life-long spiritual practice.

The short break is led by Sue Weston whose long and continuing study of T’ai-Chi, Qigong, therapeutic massage and mindfulness all have their source in her beginnings as a dancer and choreographer. A life-long interest in the relationship between the physical body and our emotional and thinking self inspires Sue to search for practical philosophies that offer ways to live happily, healthily and fearlessly. In 1999/2000 Sue spent a year in retreat on Holy Isle where she now runs an annual Qigong & Meditation Week Retreat. She holds regular Qigong, T’ai-Chi and Meditation classes in Monmouth, Abergavenny and Pontypool as well as bi-monthly workshops in Twickenham and Stourbridge.

The Wild Goose System - Forms

The Wild Goose System is a complete system for training the awareness and manipulation of energy. Beginners start with movements from the first 7 forms, which are predominantly yin. Forms 8-11 are more yang in nature and consist of martial elements that train emission and recovery of qi.

Wild Goose 1 has all the movements that are developed in 2-7 and is good basic training for these forms.

Wild Goose 2 uses the more advanced movements found in 8-11 and can be seen as good basic training for the more advanced forms.

WG1 (1st 64 movements)

This form opens the 12 meridians, rotates and moves all the joints in the body, bringing increased flexibility and co-ordination. It introduces the micro-cosmic orbit to circulate within our conception and governing vessels.

Practising Wild Goose 1 can

  • Improve blood circulation
  • Develope breathing and movement coordination.
  • Increase body and mind flexibility.
  • Cultivate sensitivity for feeling the qi inside and around our bodies.
