Relaxing the Mind is the home of information on T'ai-Chi Ch'uan, Qigong (pronounced Chi Kung), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) courses, classes and residentail retreats and more. Details of current and up and coming activities can be found at the What's On menu. And for those of you who wish to know what happens on a Holy Isle residential retreat follow this link.

Sue Weston: the Initiator of Relaxing The Mind activities. My long and continuing study and practice of T’ai-Chi, Qigong, Meditation, Mindfulness, therapeutic massage and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) all have their source in my beginnings as a dancer and choreographer. A life-long interest in the relationship between the physical body and our emotional and thinking self inspires me to search for practical skills that offer ways to live happily, healthily and fearlessly. I am currently a student on the MSc in Mindfulness Studies course with Aberdeen University and Samyé College

The Ten Second Meditation

Yes, 10 seconds! So no excuse for not having a short break from time to time to release the pressures and tensions that can build up during the day.

Are you ready to try it?

  • Take a deep breath - relax your lower belly and allow that to get bigger as you breathe in. Take your shoulders forward and up to your ears - soften your mouth,  like a baby's mouth. Then breathe out gently and fully letting the shoulders utterly release downwards and at the same time consciously letting go of tensions, worries and plans.
